Researchers Warn of Security Risks in Live Streaming and Archived Content

Researchers from the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice Research and the University of Edinburgh have raised the alarm over potential deepfake threats to Scottish Parliament TV. Their findings reveal vulnerabilities like the possibility of hackers hijacking live streams, the spread of fake videos on social media, and the misuse of archived footage to target MSPs with harassment campaigns. To combat these risks, the study suggests introducing formal response plans, enhanced security checks, and a dedicated team to monitor and manage misinformation.
